FAQ
General Questions
Why is butane not included?
For safety and shipping compliance, the included torch ships empty. Butane is considered a flammable material and can’t be mailed with standard orders. You can easily refill the torch with any standard butane canister, available at most grocery, hardware, or convenience stores.
Why is my torch not lighting?
For compliance with federal shipping regulations, we are unable to ship the torches with butane in them. Once you add butane to the torch, it should then light!
If you added fuel, and your torch is still not functioning, please reach out to us.
Smoking Process
How long do I torch the wood chips?
We recommend about 10 seconds of flame, which is usually enough to start producing a good amount of smoke into the drink. Every experience is personal though, so you can add more or less time depending on how much smoke you prefer!
How much wood do I use?
This is completely personal to each person, however to start, we recommend 1 scoop of wood chips using the included serving spoon.
How long should I let the smoke sit in the glass?
Let the smoke infuse for about 30–60 seconds for a balanced flavor. For a bolder smoke, leave it covered for over a minute before serving.
What is this wet residue on the smoker after using it?
That “wet” residue you see after using the smoker is a mix of natural wood oils and moisture from the smoke.
It’s not a defect, and it’s actually a byproduct of using real hardwood chips, and it’s the same thing that gives smoked cocktails their aroma!
To prevent this from being difficult to clean off later, we recommend cleaning the marble smoker after each use!
Marble Smoker
Is the marble heat-resistant?
The marble smoker is naturally heat-resistant and, when paired with our surface-protective metal wood-chip holder, can handle repeated torch use without warping, burning, or charring like wooden smokers.
My glass has a light yellow tint after repeated use, is that normal?
A faint yellow or amber tint can appear on glassware after many uses, as it’s simply a natural byproduct of real wood smoke, much like seasoning on a cast-iron pan. It’s harmless and easily removed.
To clean it, wipe the glass with warm water and a drop of dish soap, or use a bit of white vinegar on a soft cloth. Avoid abrasive scrubbers to keep your glass crystal clear.
If you prefer to avoid buildup entirely, clean your glass shortly after each use.
How should I clean the marble?
Allow the marble to cool completely before cleaning. Gently wipe the surface with a soft, dry, or slightly damp microfiber cloth to remove any ash or soot.
If residue remains, use a small amount of mild dish soap with warm water on a soft cloth and wipe carefully.
Hand wash only. Never scrub or use abrasive materials, as this may scratch or dull the marble’s polished surface.
How should I clean the metal wood chip holder?
Allow the metal wood chip holder to cool completely before cleaning. Rinse the filter under warm, soapy water and use the provided cleaning brush to gently remove any remaining char from previous use.
After cleaning, dry the holder thoroughly to prevent moisture buildup or discoloration.
